In consideration of being permitted to participate in the 57th Great Race – Alumni & Friends Race on April 20, 2024, I, for myself, my heirs, personal representatives or assigns, do hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Western New Mexico University, its officers, employees, volunteers, participants, and all other persons or entities acting on their behalf.
a. I acknowledge that there is a potential risk for injury involved in my participation in this Great Race event on April 20, 2024. These injuries entail both known and unanticipated risks, including but not limited to the inherent risks of participating in a variety of games and relays.
b. I agree and promise to accept and assume all of the risks existing in these activities. My participation in these activities is purely voluntary, and I elect to participate in spite of the risks.
c. I agree to abide by University rules and guidelines pertaining to the 57th Great Race – Alumni & Friends Race for April 20, 2024. I also agree to pay for and/or reimburse the University for expenses incurred by the University that are related to my failure to abide by these rules and guidelines.
I hereby voluntarily release, forever discharge, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless Western New Mexico University from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, suits, procedures, and damages or liabilities, including attorney’s fees which are in any way connected with my participation in this activity, and to reimburse them for any such expenses incurred.

WNMU Event Participation Waiver Download

IMPORTANT: Please download the WNMU Event Waiver and present a signed copy to the office of Alumni Affairs prior to the April 20, 2024 Alumni & Friends race. Forms may be emailed to Alumni@wnmu.edu or dropped off in person at Hunter Hall, upper level. Individuals, including volunteers, who do not have a signed waiver will not be allowed to participate in Great Race activities. Participants 17 years or younger must have a signed waiver by a parent or guardian. For questions, please contact the Office of Alumni Affairs at (575) 538-6675.
